Ministry Residency
The university is a crucial mission field. There are 1.2 million college students and 120,000 faculty in New York and New Jersey. Each one is loved by God, and too few of them know it. The harvest is plentiful, and the laborers are few.
We’re looking for people who are passionate about calling every corner of every campus to follow Jesus.
InterVarsity in NY & NJ is hiring residents for a one-year, full-time, paid position where you will be trained and equipped to do the job of a Campus Staff Minister.
The Ministry Residency is designed to give you the best possible exposure to the work of InterVarsity on campus, to “try on” the job, receive ministry training, and discern if this work is something that God might be inviting you to long-term.
When will this happen?
The residency will run from June 1, 2025 – May 31, 2026

The Process

Talk to your Area Ministry Director to get more information
Pray – on your own, and with other discerning people
Seek wise counsel from within and outside of your InterVarsity and church communities
Attend your area’s Day of Consecration in August
Arrange a visit to some of the resident sites
Ask your Campus Staff Minister and Area Ministry Director for opportunities to lead with greater capacity on campus this fall

Pray and discern more as you complete the application

Ministry Placement
Ministry Residents are assigned to one of 3 training locations, Long Island, Rutgers New Brunswick, or Binghamton University. A geographic assignment is selected for best fit with the resident's development as a campus minister. Location preferences are considered but cannot be guaranteed. New residents fundraise with the highly effective support of a proven training program to raise 100% of their ministry budgets.
In the spring of their Residency Year, participants indicate their interest in remaining on staff with InterVarsity. If accepted, the resident is promoted to Campus Staff Minister and receives a permanent campus placement. Geographic preference is strongly considered for this placement.
